Update #8
This is a somewhat weekly Mandarin Chinese MP3 Rotation in which I offer selected pieces of music for download encompassing many different genres.
*Files are all 128 kbps and zipped, so you need WinZip or WinRar to open them.
*Please comment if you download so I can get a sense of how many people come here. You do not need a Livejournal to comment.
*Please delete the file(s) after 24 hours as they are for sampling purposes only.
*Please support the artists and purchase their albums if you enjoy what you hear.
*All the songs are ripped from albums that I physically own and are hosted by me.
*Don't repost/direct-link these files elsewhere.
*Files are deleted after a new update is added.
*I don't take requests.
*If you would like a song from a previous update, please leave a comment (provide your email!) and I'll try to get it to you.
*Feel free to add me to your friends list for updates.
*I upload what I like, which isn't necessarily new or mainstream.
Sorry for the delay.

Pop, Ballad
Relax One is a pop-rock band fronted by Summer Hsu, who wrote or co-wrote all of the songs on the album. They have only released one album so far, which actually took six years to make. Most of their songs are up-tempo, pop-rock compositions and lots of acoustic as well.
Wang Le is one of the few ballads on the album. Though their fast songs are great too, this is just beautiful to the nth degree and despite being rather ballad-like is never boring or uninspired. (I'll post one of their fun, fast songs another time)

Acoustic, Indie
Sodagreen is a Taiwanese indie band distinguished by the lead singer's distinctive voice, which is rather high-pitched for a male but contributes to the band's unique sound. Most of their music falls in the acoustic genre.
That Moment Is Over has a great opening with the slightest hint of Desert's Live Jiuguan 300 Miao. He sings some lines in heavily-accented English, but it is easy to ignore since the rest of the song rocks. It's hard to characterize a song like this; it's very different from all the Chinese pop out there. Love the guitar and strings.

Rock
Shin is the frontman of the band "Shin". His solo album mostly consists of covers of songs that he appreciates, have influenced him, or helped him throughout his life.
Aiqing 36 Ji was originally sung by Jolin Tsai. Now why would a rocker as cool as Shin sing such a song? Because his daughter loves this song. Thus, this is a duet with his baby daughter. He has completely transformed the pop song into a rock song, and the result is just amazing (not to mention his daughter is so cute!). For comparison, watch Jolin's video on Youtube.

Hip-Hop
Wilber (Will) Pan was born in the United States. He later moved to Taiwan and attended an international school. He attended college in California. Before releasing his first album he was a VJ on Channel V.
Something about the way he pronounces words when he raps kind of throws me off; nonetheless Jue Zhan Dou Shi is an adrenaline-pumping song that's great for dancing.
